More hallway inspiration

Just wanted to share this great email from reader Dianne:

"Hi Rachel,
I love the featured hallways in your blog. This is my entrance way at home. It is a backlash against all the white interiors that seem to be everywhere. It's fun for now.

Visitors don't even notice, they cruise straight through.

Thank you for all the fantastic articles and ideas.

Kind Regards,

Dianne
Melbourne Australia"

Thanks so much for sharing your space with us, Dianne!

That is FABULOUS! How did she do it? Painted stripes and then stenciled the gold? It's so cheery and energizing! Thanks for the great pics, Rachel.

The walls were painted light grey. Each stripe is made up of three coats of glaze. The glaze is made up of 40% scenic paint, which I find to be more pure and vivid and 60% low sheen water based clear which is non yellowing. The stencil is gold and bronze craft paint. The stencil was 3 feet square and was drawn up on the computer and printed out at a drafting shop. I had some little stencils for here and there to cover any gaps. Clear over the top to protect the surface.
This was a project I did to try different paint finishes. It was all planned and I did many sample boards to get the color balance right.

Thanks,

Dianne.
