This time, I delve into the colorful world of Cirque du Soleil. The show Totem is coming to San Francisco soon- is it any good? I try not to miss a single show when they come to town.

What's your favorite show? What were the colors like?

AAAH, I saw Totem in London's Albert Hall in Feb - AMAZING. My fav ballet choreographer though is Matthew Bourne and I love "Rock the Ballet" too.

What a great article Rachel - the colors are great. I've read something about this before, it might have been in colorA2Z but I'm not sure. I hope Cirque du Soleil comes to us soon.

I find it weird at first. But the climax gave the best show.

Rachel, I love color so much that it seems like a food group. My favorite Cirque Du Soleil is Les Chemins Invisibles, which I saw performed in Quebec - beneath the Dufferin overpass. It is such a surreal venue that the greatest impression is left - not by color, but by light - and by the melding of historically-referenced costume with the pop of bright modern lighting. So, colors commonly seen in earlier eras: ivories, black, navy, blue, tea-stain pinks...are metamorphosed by the acid yellow, ultraviolet blues, neon reds, glowing purple, and "pure blinding light" white of twenty-first century illumination. Search youtube videos of Les Chemins Invisibles for some sample footage. I enjoy the great images on your posts.
